Great Britain, 1826 Proof Sovereign -
An attractive example of this scarce proof. With highly reflective fields and a lightly-frosted effigy, the coin almost leaps out of its holder. The fields are lightly marked, consistent with the grade, but overall, the coin looks the part, and would sit well in a premium sovereign type set, or even a complete sovereign proof set. This example is the “missing serif on R” variety, where the “R” in “Georgius” is missing a serif on the lower part of the stem.
