Australia, 2005 "Sydney Mint Sovereign" Twenty-five Dollars -
I don't usually deal in modern mint product, but the 2005 “Sydney Mint” Twenty-five dollar coin from the Perth Mint issued in 2005 is one of my favourites. The coin commemorates the 150th anniversary of the issue of Australia’s first circulation sovereign, and was originally distributed with an informative book, written by sovereign expert Andrew Crellin. (Unfortunately, the coin photographed above does not come with the book.) The mintage is really what sells it: Only 2,909 pieces were minted, according to the Greg McDonald catalogue. It’s actually quite scarce in PR69DCAM, and is the equal-finest graded by PCGS (July 2013).
