Australia, 1953 Florin with large reverse denticles -
There are two types of 1953 florin: one has small-toothed reverse denticles, while the other has larger-toothed denticles on the reverse. The type with the large denticles is the scarcer type, with perhaps one in four 1953 florins exhibiting the variety. The coin photographed above is the equal-finest example I’ve seen; (the other two examples on the market in the last year were also graded MS64 with PCGS). Scarce this nice, and one for the variety collector.
