Australia, 1942 Bombay Halfpenny with long reverse denticles -
There are only a handful of copper varieties that I rate. The 1942-I halfpenny with long reverse denticles is one of them. Although they’re frequently available in circulated grades, they appear to be very tough in Mint State. I’ve had only three Mint State examples in stock since October 2011 and have seen only a handful on the broader market over the last few years. The example photographed is attractive, with great eye appeal, good colour, and very glossy, chocolate fields. Although it’s not a gem, by no account, it’s certainly one of the nicer examples I’ve seen in recent times. Scarce this nice, and essential for a halfpenny Set Registry or varieties set.
