Australia, 1942 Melbourne Shilling -
Sometimes the price guides are correct, but sometimes they’re not and a little bit of market research can reveal rarities that the price guides don’t seem to rate. One example is the 1942 Melbourne shilling, a coin that appears so infrequently on the market in high grade that it makes you wonder how it is possible that they’re priced at less than the very common 1938 shilling. The example photographed here is graded PCGS MS64, and is only the third example that I've had on hand since 2007. Very scarce.
