Although consistently rated as the key date of the Perth mint sovereign series, the 1926 Perth sovereign is just one of many scarcer dates across the set (with some dates, like the 1924P and 1925P arguably scarcer). All the same, the 1926P sovereign is energetically pursued whenever it appears on the market in decent grade, with well-struck Mint State coins arousing spirited bidding at auctions. Only a handful of examples have graded PCGS MS64, and should be considered rare, while the meatier part of the curve is filled with coins graded MS62 and MS63. Coin collectors seeking to build a better-than-average Perth set should aim to acquire an example in at least MS63.
