Great Britain, 2012 Sovereign -
The 2012 Diamond Jubilee sovereign is notorious for tiny abrasions and indentations on the obverse fields. As a result, the average 2012 sovereign, by my estimates, grades MS64, maybe MS65. The example photographed above has been graded MS67 by PCGS, and is the single-finest graded by them since the coin was issued last year (January 2013). As more examples are graded, I think MS67 will continue to be a superior grade for this type, and will remain very collectable for the grade-conscious collector. Sovereigns from 2012 feature a stylised interpretation of the classic St George and the Dragon reverse, and were issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the modern, post-1937 sovereign. Very attractive!
