A completely original example of this early British half sovereign. Lustrous, and well-preserved, the coin is practically fully-struck up, except for some slight weakness on the shield. Although the Spink catalogue suggests that the 1824 half sovereign is only marginally harder than the 1825 half sovereign, the PCGS population report suggests the former is considerably rarer: PCGS has certified three times as many 1825 halves versus the 1824 (12/19). Equal-finest graded by PCGS and very scarce in this grade.
